What to with children in Madrid?

In spite of Madrid's vast size it is also a city for children with lots of areas to enjoy for families with young ones: natural areas, theme parks, museums...

There are various green areas perfect for children with activities and guided tours: Dehesa de la Villa, Casa del Campo, Juan Carlos I Park, Parque del Oeste (West Park), Royal Botanic Garden, Jardín Quinta Fuente del Berro (garden), Invernadero del Palacio de Cristal de Arganzuela, Parque del Capricho, El Retiro, Jardín educativo del Bosque Mediterráneo, Parque Lineal del Manzanares, el Pardo, amongst others.

At Madrid's zoo (Zoológico de Madrid) children can see dolphins, seals and sea lions with demonstrations. There are lots more to see, as well as the white tiger!

At the Prado Museum, Thyssen-Bornemisza and the Museum of Contemporary Art you'll find themed guided visits and others programmes, whilst little ones who dream of being a fire fighters a visit to the firefigher Museum!

For children 10 yrs and up we recommend the Museo Tiflológico (Museum of coins and stamps). This is a cultural space which collaborates with ONCE (a charity for the blind). This museum is especially designed to be enjoyed by blind or partially sighted people with displays which people can touch as well as see.

In the Moncloa - Aravaca area you'll find Madrid's theme park (Parque de Atracciones de Madrid) where a fun day for all ages is guaranteed! This theme park is split into four areas; one with roller coasters, the 'natural history' area, the 'tropical forest' area and finally the 'tranquility' area. There is also another area for very little children.

In San Martín de la Vega, to the south of Madrid, you'll find Warner Park (Parque Warner), paradise for cinema fanatics! It houses a theme park of 150 hectars based on Hollywood glamour, and with 27 attractions, 5 roller coasters, water attractions and is split into 5 areas; Hollywood Boulevard, Cartoon village, Old West Territory, DC Super Heroes World and Warner Bros. As well as all of this there are live shows and 3D projections, and also children's themed crafts.
