The best sights of Amsterdam

Amsterdam is a fascinating city and there are many things to see. Here is a list of some of Amsterdam's most popular sights.

Red Light District

The Red Light District in Amsterdam is located in the heart of the oldest part of Amsterdam, just 10 minutes walking from the main train station, overlooking three canals. It is doubtless one of the major tourist attractions of the city, visited every year by millions of people from all over the world.

The history of selling special services there dates back to the 14th century when sailors arrived in Amsterdam in need of some female company.

Nowadays the district is full of sex shops, windows with women from all nationalities offering their services, brothels, gay bars, cinemas, hotels and different kinds of museums but also restaurant, bars and coffee shops can be found there.
The Red Light District is definitely a Must-See, when in Amsterdam and it is always crowded with packs of men, young and old, couples holding hands, giggling groups of women celebrating a hen night, and busses full of Japanese tourists with their cameras.

Please keep in mind not to take pictures of the ladies in the windows as this is strictly prohibited.
