Puerto Banús

Puerto Banús

This luxurious port, between the sea and the mountains, is an emblematic image which represents Marbella.

This is a nautical and tourist port famous throughout southern Europe and, for many years, receives competition yachts which has brought impressive leisure and cultural activities. The many restaurants, clubs, discos, cinemas, art gallery, boutiques, etc, make this sea port a city within a city. Also here you'll find a shopping centre, multi cinema, a Casino, a maritime observatory and a sculpture Rinoceronte vestido con puntillas” (a dressed rhino on tiptoe) a work of art by Salvador Dalì.

In May of 1970 the port was inaugurated with a star studded guest list of 1700 including famous people belonging to royalty, cinema and the international music industry. Amongst guests were the Spanish King & Queen Juan Carlos and Sofía, Aga Khan, the cinema director Roman Polanski, Christian Bernhard the heart transplant pioneer, Prince the 3rd of Monaco Raniero III and Grace Kelly with her family. 

Since then the popularuty of this area has grown and grown converting it into a real tourism catalyst contributing to social and economic growth. The obtained the Golden Merit medal for National Tourism and the prestigious International Gold Mercury award for the contribution this area has made to important economic, cultural and social growth.

Approximately almost 4 million and a half people visit Puerto Banus yearly, representing a meeting place for all types of people: noble people, sport, entertainment celebrities, industry...
