Essentials: Enjoying lunch on some of the many terraces at the boulevard

Famous for: It’s location as a continuation of the well-known Las Ramblas

In three words: Luxurious, elegant, sophisticated

Rambla de Catalunya is located in the middle of Eixample neighborhood, and a natural continuation of the famous Las Ramblas boulevard. This kilometre-long pedestrian street is shaded with trees which makes it pleasant to stroll along during hot summer days.

HISTORY: Rambla de Catalunya has through the times been left shaded by the nearby streets Passeig de Gracia and Las Ramblas. However it’s worth to see, as it’s surrounded by historical buildings and old restaurants - such as La Bodegueta which opened its doors in 1942.

ATMOSPHERE: Rambla de Catalunya has historically been a residence area of the upper class in Barcelona, and that’s why you still can feel the sophisticated and charming atmosphere in the air. The boulevard is lined with art galleries, high-quality clothing stores and restaurants. From here you will find some leading fashion boutiques as well as traditional outlets. The car traffic on the sides of the boulevard is limited which makes it quieter than many other streets in Eixample area.

PLACES: At Rambla de Catalunya are located many luxurious clothing stores and good restaurants. In addition for shopping and eating there is also placed a cinema, church, and so on. One place worth visiting is Parròquia de Sant Ramon de Penyafort in the corner of Carrer del Rosselló and Rambla de Catalunya. This beautiful parish was built in 1882. Another recommendable place to see is the Casa Serra, which is built in 1908. The building is designed by architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch and located in the corner of Rambla de Catalunya with Diagonal avenue.
