Valencia is the third largest city in Spain and capital of the province of the same name. This city is famed for its spectacular sights, for being the home of paella and for las Fallas (a traditional celebration). The following areas describe the main places where our apartments are situated. Old quarter is the most centrally located, the Old River Bed houses the City of Arts and Sciences and the Malvarrosa is one of the famous beaches in the city.

The old town is the very center of Valencia. It is located in the curve of the old river bed and includes several major attractions of the city. It is often referred to be el Barrio del Carmen, since this area in the old town spread over the past and occupies nowadays most of the city center. The old town conveys a charming atmosphere with lots of lovely places and corners, perfect for a vacation full of sightseeing and leisure activities.

HISTORY:
  The old town was and is the central point in the city of Valencia. It includes even the old city walls and ancient buildings out of the time where the city was dominated by Arabs. The Barrio del Carmen, or simply El Carmen, is an ancient district out of the medieval time. The boundaries of this district have spread over the time, making El Carmen a bigger district including a great part of Valencia's city center. Nowadays the center gleams on the one side with restored buildings, trendy bars and luxury restaurants and on the other side still conveys the ancient charm of the past.

ATMOSPHERE:
The center includes most of the main leisure and cultural activities of the city. Due to its charming places and cornes, this district presents a main touristic area for sightseeing. Especially, when you get closer to the city center, one will find many monuments and attractions. If you seek to see the new and old Valencia, this place is the right choice. Narrow streets out of the past make you travel back to the past while restored and modern places let you enjoy all comfort for a pleasant stay.

PLACES:
The old town presents nearly all important places one should see during a short trip to Valencia. In the depth of the district one will find the corresponding Plaza del Carmen, near to the river bed. However, the four main squares are Plaza de Ayntamento, Plaza de la Reina, Plaza de la Virgen and Glorieta. These places contain most of the sights in Valencia. The Torres de Quart and the Torres de Serranos, both wall gates of the city, border the old town as well. Additionally, the Modern Art Museum IVAM and also the Mercado Central are part of charming the center. Seeking for culture, you will find many museums inside of the center. Valencia's university is located in the old town as well. Finally, one shouldn't miss the cathedral of Valencia, the most popular attraction within the city.
