Gran Vía, just above the center of Madrid, it is perhaps not the most beautiful street in Madrid but is still interesting. Definitly you will see it during your stay in Madrid. It is a large and wide road with lots of noise, traffic, tourists, shops, cinemas, hotels and restaurants, making it the commercial heart of Madrid. Try don´t see all advertising and neon lights and discover that you can see a fascinating mix of various architectural styles of the 20th century.
From neo-baroque style of the Franco regime and art deco to the modern construction trends, everything seems to be represented. Also nice are the old-fashioned cinemas where often hand-painted movie posters hanging. Tired of all the people and the noise, you can at the end of the street relax in the park of the Plaza de España.
